MELON TRACKS
Worldwide Weird Travel with Ben Osto
Clyde Jones, Carroboo, NC: Photos and Text by Ben Osto
Clyde Jones’ home is surrounded by his critters. They are mostly made from logs nailed together. Clyde is an artist in his residence but makes his livelihood mowing lawns.

I wasn’t sure that was true until I visited him. He wasn’t there so me and the wife and the pet ferret took the time to explore the yard filled with the wood critters. Each one had a different personality, depending of the shape and texture of the logs.

In the distance we heard a loud motor sound and within a minute a man on a rider mower was heading our way down the street. It was Clyde. He talked to us while we walked and looked over his art, never leaving the mower, just driving along with us.

He was so impressed with Jonah our critter the ferret that he gives us one of his: a dog with plastic peach eyes and a divot mouth.
