Margaret's Grocery, Vicksburg, MS: Photos and Text by Ben Osto
Reverend Dennis promised his girlfriend Margaret he would turn her grocery into a castle if they got married. When my wife and I visited his castle, the good-hearted preacher ran out to greet us with unintelligible sermons and tried to lead us into his church (a converted bus similar to the Partridge Family’s vehicle). Reverend Dennis was now very old, and had startling blue eyes.  They startled me because not just his irises were blue, but the entire eyeballs were blue. He preached with passion and punctuated his “points” by slamming me in the chest, pushing me and shouting.
