Worldwide Weird Travel with Ben Osto
Paul's Place, Stokes Bay, Australia: Photos and Text by Ben Osto
Paul’s Place is not a tourist stop for the uptight. Paul relishes in torturing his visitors by having emus eat off your head (feels like someone wrapping a knuckle against the top of your skull), having trained birds of prey land on your back, wrapping you up in huge snakes, and sticking your hand in a cow’s mouth. He also lets you hold a koala bear, a cute possum, and pick up a kangaroo and feed it beer. The tour started out with him handing a bucket of feed to my wife. He pushed her out into an opening between farm buildings and started making weird calls. About fifty animals of every kind, strange ones, flooded the area and attacked the bucket. Kangaroos, wallabies, emus. They knocked her down and dove for the feed.
The eccentric part-time showman and full-time farmer had everything from bees to a pet anchina (an egg laying anteater) that he fed ants in dirt to by hand.

Also in Kingscote don't miss going for a night tour under the southern cross where they bring you around to hear the penguins fucking in the rocks.
