The Gadsden Hotel, Mexico/Arizona Border:

Horrifying choice of decorations
I was eager to visit Belle Starr at her ranch. She has a pet wolf and tells old stories around a campfire at night. Well, Belle was nowhere to be found so we found this haunted hotel in an Arizona/Mexico border town. The trip there was quite an adventure in itself: we saw wild boar and also illegals running through the brush, with border patrol in hot pursuit.

The Gadsden Hotel was frumpy but cool, especially the lobby (which featured a stuffed big cat) and the hotel restaurant, with its Wilco carvings of conquistadors. No sign of the infamous headless apparition floating down the hallways, sometimes described as dressed in khaki army clothes.

We talked the desk clerk into letting us visit the most haunted room. No spirits were there to spook us. The other residents of the hotel were spooked, though -- they were well aware of the room’s reputation, and many watched out the opposing windows as I brushed past the curtains
