Charismatic leaders are nobody without suckers to hose. These leaders fall into two blurred categories: delusional featherbrains and those with an uncanny talent for holding a straight face. An example of the former is Scientific Christian Mary Baker Eddy, who ended her life in a haze of morphine due to excessive MAM (Malicious Animal Magnetism) and gallstones. An example of the latter is Founding Mormon and peep-stone gazer John Smith. Of course, the Truth and the Light is the Temple Melon; but, if we were to jump utopian ships, we'd consider the following options.
